Enterprise Appraisal Management System
A multinational agribusiness needed its tea estate and factory worker appraisals off paper and spreadsheets, live before a fixed appraisal cycle just two months away.
Overview
A fixed-scope engagement for a large multinational agribusiness. XLORIT was brought in to design, build and deploy an internal appraisal management system for tea estate and factory workers from scratch, within a hard two-month deadline. An AMC engagement continues after delivery.
A hard deadline, a locked enterprise environment, and an appraisal cycle that couldn't move
The client ran annual worker appraisals across tea estates and factories entirely on spreadsheets and paper. The process involved multiple levels of approval (estate managers, heads, and final sign-off from the MD and HR) with no system to track, audit or manage the flow. The appraisal cycle was fixed and had to begin in two months regardless. XLORIT came in as the first and only team, with no existing codebase, no prior AWS serverless experience, and two enterprise security teams between them and a working authentication layer.
- Appraisals across tea estates and factories run on spreadsheets and paper
- Multi-level approvals with no tracking, audit trail or workflow
- A fixed appraisal cycle starting in two months
- Cross-cloud authentication gated by two enterprise security teams
- Inconsistent data in the client's employee master
Our Approach
We made the hard calls early, then built around them.
Hard calls made early, so the deadline didn't become a crisis
Two enterprise security teams, a cross-cloud authentication layer that blocked all access if unsolved, a data quality problem in the client's own employee master, and an architecture the team had never used. We anticipated edge cases, made trade-offs before the build started and communicated scope clearly, so the deadline held. The client initiated an AMC after delivery and then awarded us a second project.
- Delivered on deadline: production-ready in 2 months
- Stable at launch; deferred items were intentional scoping decisions, not missed bugs
- 500+ workers covered across tea estates and factory units, 40+ active users
- Azure AD integrated with AWS under deadline
- Productive on AWS serverless within 1 week
- AMC ongoing, plus a second project awarded
We had a fixed appraisal cycle and only two months to get ready. XLORIT understood the urgency from day one, made the hard scoping calls early, and delivered on time. The system works very well, and our people across the estates are actually using it.
