Indian Grocery Ecommerce Platform
A US online grocery platform for the Indian diaspora had a webview app with no crash visibility and a silent billing flaw. We rebuilt the foundation and shipped native apps on top of it.
Overview
A US-based online grocery platform serving the Indian diaspora. XLORIT is embedded as the client's dedicated development team, maintaining the legacy system while rebuilding the web platform and mobile apps on top of a modernized foundation.
A product customers couldn't rely on, and a team that couldn't see why
The client had a live ecommerce site and a mobile app, but the app was built in webview with zero crash visibility. Customers were calling in because orders wouldn't go through, and the team was debugging blind. Worse, a silent billing flaw was letting customers block charges after delivery, with no system to catch it. Over $5,000 in revenue went unrecovered in a single month before anyone noticed. They had engineers. They didn't have systems.
- Webview mobile app with zero crash visibility
- Customers calling in because orders wouldn't go through
- A billing flaw that let customers block charges after delivery
- Legacy Core PHP backend with no authentication layer, blocking a real mobile app
Our Approach
We rebuilt the foundation, then built everything on top of it.
Finding what's silently breaking, before it becomes a crisis
The payment flaw had been draining revenue for months before we diagnosed and fixed it. The JWT gap would have blocked the mobile app entirely. Neither was in the original brief. We shipped 50+ features while maintaining the legacy system in parallel, with zero disruption to live orders. The client now calls us directly when something goes wrong, issues are resolved by morning IST, and they have referred us to another startup.
- 98.27% crash-free rate on iOS and Android
- $5,000+/month recovered after the Authorize & Capture fix
- $1.5M in orders processed with no systemic payment failures post-fix
- 0.26% refund rate across all transactions
- 15-minute average sessions, 2.8 sessions per user, consistent even on peak days
- 50+ features shipped, 5+ integrations, zero downtime during legacy modernization
Two and a half years in, they feel less like a vendor and more like our own tech team. If something breaks at night here in the US, it's usually fixed by the time I wake up. I can't say that about anyone else we've worked with.
